    My Chiropractic Experience

If you had described to me 3 months ago what true health and vitality felt like, or what living subluxation free meant, I probably would have said “That’s Impossible”.

I have always been one who strongly values my Inner energy, health and vitality. When I applied for the job of Chiropractic Assistant at Floreat Chiropractic I had little knowledge about the practice of Chiropractic. I knew it related to your back and that it used a form of manipulation but I never knew about the holistic approach it took. What caught my eye and interested me was the strong reference to wellbeing rather than treatment or medicine.

Over the last couple of years I have suffered on and off with chronic fatigue brought on by a dreadful case of glandular fever. This drained my energy and broke down my immune system; I was prescribed script after script of anti-biotics and paracetamol, and I gradually realised that these never completely cured my sickness nor prevented it from returning. I was told that the sickness was in my system forever and could come back at any point.  The anti-biotics started to become an awful trend and after many repeats I decided I wasn’t going to take them again. I felt they only created more horrible symptoms and worsened my self-healing immune system. I tried many natural remedies, which did help with particular symptoms, but as a whole I still felt that I was not able to get to peak wellness or health.

I was very eager and enthusiastic to start my care at Floreat Chiropractic, I felt like this job had come to me at the right time for all the right reasons. I had my Initial consultation and report of findings, which confirmed to me everything I thought – I had restriction and weakening throughout my whole body and it was definitely reflecting in my general health.  It was what I needed to throw me into the action, to take responsibility for my health. I became more aware of my lifestyle, and realised I had to decrease the chemical, physical and emotional stress in my life because it was taking its toll on me. I was put on a schedule of 3 times a week for 4 weeks, 2 times a week for four weeks.

    Now, 6 weeks later, I am very enthusiastic in my love of, and belief in, Chiropractic as a holistic way of life. As well as seeing the changes and benefits in the lives of our regular patients I am going through a journey myself. I just wish I had known about it all my life! At least I know that I have found the answer to leading a better, healthier lifestyle;

    • I am feeling so positive and in tune with my inner-self
    • My ability to exercise and recover quicker has improved
    • My headaches have subsided by 80%
    • I am more in-tune with what my body needs
    • Chiropractic has heightened my awareness of movement and restriction
    • My on and off neck and back pain which I thought was “normal” is gone
    • My range of movement has improved to 100 per cent from when I started which is far quicker than I expected.

The only thing I could say to anyone who feels they need a little something more out of their life or could feel a bit better is…YOU CAN WITH CHIROPRACTIC! I am so pleased with my results and I have taken everything into my stride. I know that with the help of a Chiropractor and self motivation you can achieve whatever goals you set and you can be a better, healthier you.

If you want to experience the sort of change that I have call me today. I’d love to help you on your journey and will happily organise an appointment for you to get started!

So how can we measure true health? And how do we care for the health we have created?

I like to measure health and wellness by examining the ‘degree to which an individual expresses health and vitality in any dimension of their life’, as suggested by Dr. Patrick Gentempo (DC).

To what degree do I experience health in the physical dimension? Do I feel vibrant and full of energy most days? Do I sleep well and wake rested? Am I not only pain free, but strong and flexible? Is my digestion healthy? Is my body at ease?

    What is true Health Care?

Have you ever stopped to think about what true health is, and how to care for it?
Many people will tell you that they are healthy based solely on the fact that they are not ‘sick’. But does the absence of a disease, sickness or pathology really equate to health? Those who have taken a greater interest and a more active pursuit of health will be the first to attest to the fact that health is much more than the absence of disease. According to the World Health Organisation ‘health is a state of complete physical, mental, and social wellbeing and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity’.
