Shockwave Therapy in Floreat

shockwave therapy tool illustrationShockwave therapy is a type of modality that kicks off an anti-inflammatory or healing response in the body. This therapy encourages regrowth of tissue by utilising the body’s own healing processes to reduce pain and promote healing.

How Does It Work?

Shockwave therapy works by using acoustic waves to address various musculoskeletal conditions and break down fibrous scar tissue. The sound waves are passed deep into the tissue, which leads to increased blood circulation around the affected area. This increased blood flow helps reduce inflammation, pain, and stiffness associated with the condition. We are pleased to provide this modality at Floreat Chiropractic.

Conditions It May Help

If you have any of the following, you may benefit from shockwave therapy:

  • Achilles tendon
  • Tennis elbow
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Chronic neck pain
  • Shoulder injuries (e.g. tears)

What Is the Process Like?

We’ll attach a noninvasive probe to your skin. Next, an electrical charge will create an energy wave directed towards the painful area. You may experience accelerated healing of the area due to the shockwaves generating a force on the tissues. The process is fairly quick, only taking about 15 minutes per painful or injured area.

A Complement to Chiropractic Care

By using shockwave therapy, we can break down scar tissue in the area, which gives us greater movement of the spine before we even adjust. By using the modality before chiropractic adjustments, we can get longer lasting results.
